Ipod 5 not switching on nor charging, recently purchased it... Pls help guys

Did you try resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Apple appears, the reset is in progress and the Slide to Unlock screen will display shortly.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try another cable

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. The iPod is covered by one-year warranty

Thank you very much. My ipod died and I tried what you suggested and the battery sign came up empty. I plugged it in but it still shows empty. Does this mean the battery is defunkt?
