How to correct error message that connection to server failed

I have an iPhone5S and iPad. When attempting to retrieve emails, I am getting a message that says

Connection to server failed.

Hello Gregg,



It may help to remove the affected account, then readd it.



Delete the affected email account from your device.

  1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Tap the affected email account.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Add your account again.
