safari browser hit with virus

Running OS 10.10 2 Yosomite

Browser crashed and told me to call 1-855-704-1387 which I did not do. Is there any I can do to get rid of this virus? Only attacked Safari, firefox is running fine

iMac, iOS 8.2

Force quit Safari, then Restart Safari while holding the shift key.

did doing the force quit safari and shift Reopen. Get rid of it?? I did that seems to be working fine. However, is there a real threat and should i buy a antivirus for my Macbook now to clean it up??

These are simply browser popups. They are annoying, but not a virus. The key thing to remember is to avoid clicking any links presented, or suggested phone numbers you should call.
