Why does my both my iPhone and my wife's iPhone ring whenever someone calls either of us?

Why does both my iPhone (6) and my wife's iPhone (5) ring whenever someone calls either one of us? This only happens when we are both at home and connected to wifi…? I assume that I could turn off the wifi on my phone, but what is the point of that? Any ideas?

Thanks.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.2

That's part of a new feature called Continuity - it's new in iOS 8. To shut it off for this aspect, go to Settings > FaceTime > and switch off the iPhone Cellular Calls switch.
