Q: No internet on Windows 7 Ultimate, already installed drivers and repaired them, but I cannot connect to my university's Wi-Fi. What do I do?

Hello, like I said, I've already used bootcamp to get Windows 7, however I can't connect to the internet.

I've installed the drivers, and even repaired the drivers but I don't know what to do now. Nothing seems to have worked.

Are you able to connect to other Wireless networks? The security aspects of a specific wireless network can have many variations. For example, some networks require a certificate to be installed on your network for authentication/authorization purposes, which may require Administrative rights to your Windows Installation?

    What Year/model is your Mac?

Can you post a screen shot of Device Manager -> Network Adapters?

You may want to edit your name from screen shots in the future.

On W7, you have a higher version (6.30.223.215) of the 802.11n driver compared to what I have on W8.1 (5.106.199.1).

    This is from bootcamp.xml file

    <Name>Broadcom 802.11 Network Adapter Driver
    <InfName>bcmwl6.inf</InfName>
    <Class>Net</Class>
    <ClassGUID> {4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}</ClassGUID>
    <CatalogFile>BCM43XX64.CAT</CatalogFile>
    <Provider>Broadcom</Provider>
    <DriverVer>11/13/2012, 5.106.199.1</DriverVer>
    <ServiceBinary>bcmwl5.sys</ServiceBinary>
    <HardwareID></HardwareID>
    <isX64>Both</isX64>
    </Name>

Can you check the USB that you built with BC Assistant or manually from Bootcamp downloads to see what you have?

For my model, using System requirements to install Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp - Apple Support, I get Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621.

Whoops I'll be deleting that comment.

And I can't find the Broadcom 802.11 Network Adapter in that file just the Broadcom Simple Communications Device, and the Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet - NDIS 6.0 Which are 06/16/2009 and 09/04/2012 respectively. I tried to screenshot but it keeps the extension in .tiff and when I convert it to .jpg it won't let me upload.

    1. Take a screen shot.

    2. Click on Edit and Copy.

    3. Open Preview.

    4. File -> New From Clipboard.

    5. Save the Preview file and post it.

Do you want to consider downloading Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621 and Boot Camp: Install or repair Boot Camp drivers and verify version numbers.

Can you post the top of the Bootcamp.xml that you have used to install the drivers?

Here is my example. I am interested in the highlighted line(s).

As a test, can you go to the Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621 and download the .zip file. It will be in your Downloads folder. Open Bootcamp.xml and look for 802.11 in that file. Check if it matches what I have posted.

Alternatively, if you have a spare 1-2GB USB2 disk, run BC Assistant, choose only Download Software option and let it erase and build the USB with drivers. Verify that you see a 802.11 entry in Bootcamp.xml. If you do see it then on the Windows side, run an install/repair.

You may have let Windows Update update your drivers, which can cause issues, due to hardware differences between Apple and non-Apple branded hardware.

I checked the .zip file and the 802.11 was there, and I tried using that to repair the files and it didn't work.

I then tried to run BC assistant again and use the software option to try to repair drivers with that and it didn't work either.

I don't know if Windows updated my drivers because I never had any internet access to begin with.
