Q: No internet on Windows 7 Ultimate, already installed drivers and repaired them, but I cannot connect to my university's Wi-Fi. What do I do?

In Device Manager, right-click on the 802.11 adapter, and uninstall the current driver. Reboot Windows to clean up the files. Once back into Windows, ensure that the 802.11n device and adapter have a little yellow triangle and an exclamation mark. Please try to install driver again. Does your Ethernet connection work properly?

Remove the driver and reboot. The previous installation was successful, but required a reboot to finalize. Ethernet has a separate driver.

You can also remove the 802.11 adapter after you uninstall the drivers.

If you do not have Internet Access via Ethernet, it is a different issue. You may be connected locally, but may not have an IP address which allows you to connect.

Can you post the output of ip configuration (ipconfig) in a command window and post the output? Remove any personal information as you see fit.

Can you ping 10.41.112.1?

If you cannot ping the default gateway, you

1. Have an incorrect gateway and IP address. You can try a ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew and see if your gateway changes.

2. May be expected to log in to a VPN to allow Internet Access, or bring up a browser to log in to allow access?

3. May have this configuration from a different location in your institution, is it valid where you currently are? This may also be a question for your Network Administrators.
