Reset All Settings

My iMessage often won't open. Usually when I hold down the home and lock buttons, iMessage starts working again. I did this a few times and it wasn't working. So, I researched online and found that I "should" go into settings>general>reset all settings. I did this and the completion bar on my phone has been set on 3/4 done for hours now. PLEASE HELP ASAP. I just want my phone back on!
