Mar 30, 2015 9:15 AM in response to kathleencelloby Old Toad,When using iDVD it's generally recommended to maintain a minimum of 20-25 GB of free space so as not to interfere or bog down the encoding process.
There are a number of ways to clear out a hard drive. One easy way to free up space on the boot drive is to move your iPhoto Library to an external hard drive that is formatted OS X Extended (journaled) and run it from there. The same can be done with an iTunes library. Both libraries tend to be large and take up a lot of disk space.
When moving the iPhoto library drag it to the EHD. When the copying process is complete launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and select the library on the EHD to open. Confirm that it's complete and working properly before deleting the original library from the Pictures folder on the boot drive. Check with the iTunes forum on how to move its library to an EHD.
