Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

My iPhone 5s screen seems to have a life of its own!

When I try to scroll or type on the screen of my phone, it does not respond and it does something completely different. For example, I cannot type properly as the phone types messages (in jibberish!) on its own. The phone also starts calling people randomly with an unlocked screen.

Overall, it's just not as responsive as it should be. There are instances when I lock and unlock my phone, and the screen is functioning well, but it starts malfunctioning again after a few minutes of usage.

Before this happened, I did not drop nor damage the phone. I have also rebooted it and force-shut-down it quite a few times.

Details of the phone:

  • Make: iPhone 5s
  • Version: 7.1 (11D167)
  • Available capacity: 471MB

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the phone. If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:
