error syncing with itunes

I've done everything I can find (reinstalled itunes; searched for malware; reset the ipad) and refuse to pay for Apple to talk to me about an issue that is clearly an iTunes issue based on everything I've read. I have an iPad 2. The problem started within the last month. Anyone out there have any ideas? Error message:
