The DVI plug doesn't fit on either 2014 MacBook pro or the 2007 MacBook Pro.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), also on a MacBook pro 2007

This may be what you need for the retina MBP:

Check the monitor to be certain.
