Deleted photos still appearing in iCloud

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this.

I received a notification that my iCloud storage is full and because I didn't want to pay for extra storage, to make room, I deleted just over 1000 photos off my iPhone (which I thought would also automatically delete off my iPad but didn't). The photos were just deleted off my camera roll as I don't have a PhotoStream album. I was really hoping they would automatically delete through iCloud on my other device but they didn't. If anyone could help me with the fastest and easiest way to delete the same photos off my iPad and iCloud, I'd appreciate it!
