I mean that if my Mac is not used for a month ,the battery will be totally discharged and could be dead for good
( I do leave for over a month without this Mac sometimes)
Hi....
If you are planning to store your macbook for over a month without using it, then its always recommended to charge your Macbook battery to the level of 50% charge. As simple as that.....
In the worst case if you store your macbook without using it for over a month with a very little charge like say 10%, then there a great chances that your macbook will go in a very deep discharge state by affecting its battery performance severely.
NNo I said that my MacBook cannot stayed a month without being totally discharged: it discharge of 3% each 24 hours !
i do turn it off with the power button
Press the Apple logo on the top left corner of the screen > About this mac > Press More Info tab > System report tab > On the left hand side column press the “Power” option and post the screen shot of the window.

i Cannot as I am not home and I am with my Ipad
is there something I should verify when I will be home ?
i Already went to a Genius Bar and they only said ,my battery is ok but they don't give any answer on the discharge of it
Are you sure it is really turned off, or is it just closed and asleep?
When really turned off with a battery at 50% as Grane says, it will keep "forever" say a year. With the charger cable disconnected, and all ports unconnected !
Even if you turn it off completely it may lose a little bit in the first minutes. It is also not realistic to extrapolate some measurements.

After you return home, please do as I have mentioned in my previous post as well as double check whether your macbook is really turned off when you want it to as LexSchellings had suggested....
TThanks but yes I am sure it is turned off: I press the power button untill it turned off
my precedent MacBook black did not have this discharging problem
as I said apple expert in Genius Bar was not clear: he said , it was normal that the battery loose some 2 or 3 % per 24 h
You turn off a mac by holding the power button??: you should not turn off a mac by doing that.
You turn off by choosing the Apple icon menu and choosing "Shut down".
NNo I turn it off by choosing shut down and I turn it on with power button
Did you followed the steps which I had suggested in my previous reply....??
I Am not home yet but I will try
sy bill: you said I press the power button untill it turned off .
I am sorry , I wrote to quick in a foreign language
t' the issue is this: my MacBook retina 13' loose 3% every 24h
I allready left it 3 weeks power off (the right way: choosing " shut down") and it was at 15% when I came back
apple genius bar said nothing wrong with my battery but did not expressly said all MB discharge when shut down
now my guarantee has expired and I am left without knowing what to do
I cannot leave my Mac on charge for 6 weeks and if I don't ,my battery will be empty and dead for good
Did you follow the steps recommended earlier?
