Can not save numbers document

When trying to save newly created numbers document, I get the following error message: "the file xxxxx doesn't exist" when trying to save to numbers and when trying to export to xl or pdf

Prior to receiving this message, I got another error message that I could not use more than 31 characters in the file name.

MacBook Pro is running 10.10.2.

Believe problem started with recent update

How to fix?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), new problem...last update?

Hi Philip,

That may be due to a 'permissions' problem (permission to write to that folder).

Try this. In Launchpad, locate Disk Utility. You may have to click on Other to find it.

In Disk Utility, Choose the second Macintosh HD (that is where your apps and data are stored).

Click on Verify Disk Permissions. This will take several minutes to complete.

My latest Verify showed this:

Click on Repair Disk Permissions and have a cuppa while you wait.

I do a Verify and then Repair every month or three as housekeeping. In particular, it is a good idea to housekeep after a software update.

Regards,

Ian.
