Will the Apple Watch still work if worn inside the wrist?

I'm one of "those" people in the other half of the world's population that wears their watch on the underside (inside) of my wrist. I picked this up from my Grandfather and now, as a military professional, it's just the best way to wear a timepiece.

I guess the two big questions are this:

Will the heart rate monitor work sufficiently?

Will there be a way for the watch to take into account where it's being worn and not assume you are looking at the watch all the time (motion sensor calibration)? (I've experienced this with other smart watches.)

Cheers!
