How do I insert a table into footer?

Some document I need to insert a table into the footer. Now I can't do that.

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

I think the operant word here is now. You could do this in Pages '09 v4.3, but you can't in Pages v5 (any release) because the footer is actually a 1x3 cell table itself.

You may not like this, but the only way I can find to insert a table into a Footer is to convert it to an image (screen shot: command shift 4 and drag the crosshairs over the table).

Click in the Footer and ignore "Insert Page Number".

Menu > Insert > Choose.. > navigate to your screen shot (by default it will be on your Desktop).

Here is a Pages document with an image of a table in the middle field of the Footer

The Footer will appear on every page, but it will be an image (you can't edit it, it will be static).
