Q: Music albums cannot be deleted on iPhone

On my iPhone-6 I have several music albums which cannot be deleted by wiping the
album or certain music titles from right to left. Also, those albums are not
shown on iTunes when I connect my iPhone to iTunes. How can I erase the whole
music-mediathek on iPhone and reload it again from iTunes?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi Hans M,

If you want to delete all of the music that is being stored on your iPhone, take a look at the resource below.

See how much storage you've used on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201656

View storage usage on your iOS device

Tap Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage to see the amount of space each app and its content takes on your device.

Tap an app for more detailed information about its usage.

Depending on the app, you might be able to delete some of the app's content, or delete the app and all of its content.

When you tap on the Music app, the first item listed will be All Songs.  Swipe to the left and then tap Delete.

You can now manually sync the songs you want from your iTunes Library to your iPhone:

Thank you very much, Judy. Yes, your contributions were a great help. So, I could delete almost
all music albums from my iPhone-6 (iOS-8.2) by "Settings > General > Usage > Manage
Storage", tapping on "Music", wiping from right to left on "All titles" and "Delete".

However, there are still four albums which I couldn't delete. If I wipe on the album or on one
of the titles in the album from right to left, "Delete" does not Show and nothing happens.

Those albums are also not shown on iTunes when I connect
the iPhone to the PC and display "Music on my device".

Have you still an idea how to delete those stubborn albums?

Thanks a lot in the meantime!

    Hans

    Hi Hans,

It sounds like what you are seeing is music that you have purchased, but not downloaded to your iPhone.  When you tap on Settings > Music, do you have "Show All Music" enabled?  If you turn that feature off, you will only see music that has been downloaded to your iPhone.

    Cheers!

    Hi Judy,

now I've got it. I had "Show all music" enabled, however, those albums or some of its titles were not completely downloaded. After I downloaded those remaining four albums completely from the iCloud I was able to delete them if I wanted. So, my problem is solved.

Thank you so much for your advice and help!

    Cheers! Hans

    Good Morning Hans M!

I'm glad the information helped and you now understand how to see what music has been downloaded to your iPhone and delete the songs or albums you no longer want.

    Enjoy!
