Serious Lag Apple TV Mirroring With Macbook Pro Retina (2013)

I have the latest apple tv for a few months now, but there is a big problem. When I want to mirror my 2013 macbook pro retina with the apple tv, there is a lot of lag. The images on my apple tv are not fluently, just like the sound.

I have tried to fix this problem in a few ways, but nothing has helped me yet:

Buy an apple airport extreme because it has a 2 way connection instead of my router.

Connect my Apple tv by cable to my airport/router (and not with wifi).

I have the latest updates on all of my devices.

Can somebody please help me with this issue. In the country I am currently living in, there is no netflix yet. So basically my apple tv is useless if I can't mirror movies from my computer.
