Yosemite runs very well and brings support for iCloud. Do you need to stay with SnowLeopard because of PowerPC applications, that require the Rosetta environment? (Upgrading to 10.7 and above, don't forget Rosetta!: Apple Support Communities)

Mar 30, 2015 1:33 PM in response to Kappyby Web_User73,★HelpfulWhat about transferring raw files from Nikon? If it's as bad as you say, perhaps it would be more prudent if I uploaded photos, that I converted them first to Tiff, Png or JPEG first? If you use the software that comes with the Nikon camera to develop the RAW and convert it to high quality TIFF files, you'll get the best RAW processing available. The manufacturer knows the camera best.

Mar 30, 2015 1:36 PM in response to léonieby Lotta Tidbits,Exactly my point, don't have the time to spend repairing, patching, etc etc etc if upgrade to Yosemite does not work right. Therefore I'm scared to upgrade to Yosemite. Bottom line here folks, looking for other options if anyone knows of any. Thank you for your responses.

Mar 30, 2015 1:50 PM in response to Lotta Tidbitsby Kappy,I've upgraded variously over time from Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion, and Mavericks. But the version you upgrade from isn't the issue. It's the condition of that version on your computer. If you upgrade a dysfunctional system, then you get an even more dysfunctional system.
Then, of course, you can eliminate the version upgrade by doing an Erase and Install. You can backup your current version before upgrading it so you can quickly restore it if you need to. You can even partition the hard drive and install the new version on an empty partition. These are options the keep you from losing the version you now have.
