Combo jack not working on Windows

I have a Macbook Pro (9,1 Mid-2012 15") and headphones that has both audio out and a microphone with a combo jack (with the 3 rings) and I'm running Windows 8.1 via bootcamp. The audio out works fine and I can hear everything but the mic will still use the internal mic inside the Macbook and no other mics will show up. The external mic works fine on OS X but not on Windows, is there a fix to this?
