Hey guys.... client has a 32bit Vista running on his MacPro1,1 right now, had 1GB RAM, got him 16GB because he wanted to stay with that computer. However it only shows 8GB, and reminded me of the times Windows always showed less RAM when it was 32bit.
So would this be as simple as upgrading to like 64bit Win 7 and it will use all 16GB?

You cannot run 64-bit anything on that model because it is a 32-bit piece of hardware. Windows will always show 8 GBs of RAM because that is all it can use in 32-bit mode.
I was afraid of that.. but I think I read somewhere you can change out some part to make it 64bit and more RAM compatible? It seemed a bit hokey but we already have 16GB, so I guess we can return half of that or.....
Are you referring to Physical Address Extension (PAE Mode) of Windows?

It seems like that is on the right track, have you (or known someone) ever done it on any PC comparable to the one in the OP here? Esp a Win Vista 32bit running on a Mac Pro?
I did it on Vista32 several years ago. I do not have the screen shots though. You will need to edit boot.ini and add /PAE qualifier to the OS command.
