Looking at new Apple Macbook but it seems less spec than the old one, any help

Considering that there is no old one, what are you talking about? And, be specific. For example, a MacBook is not a MacBook Pro.

The MacBook is new, and hasn't come out yet. Your right, Apple has had a MacBook model but discontinued it 2011. I would recommend getting the new one because it is completely revamped and modern.

The new Macbook (not Macbook Pro) specs are lower than a MacBook Pro's. But since its not meant to be a Macbook Pro there's no reason to expect similar specs.

I would go for a MacBook Air if you what you need is light weight portability.
