Show recently played in artist/album view

I don't get iTunes. If I ever exited the music player in iOS it would ALWAY remember the last song I played. iTunes doesn't care about this at all. When I go from album view to playlist view, then back to album view, it shows all albums from the beginning again. Why wouldn't it remember the exact view I had it in before I switched to playlists? Every time I go back to album view I have to click on ... then "go to album". It's so annoying. Anyone know how I can make iTunes remember? Thanks.
