My dad got a new iPhone 6 so he gave me his old iphone 4. When I restored the phone it went to the activation screen and the sim screen said invalid sim. How can I fix this? I tried to put the new phone's sim in the old phone but the iPhone 6 SIM card is half the size so it doesn't work.

That usually means that the phone is locked to a carrier, and the SIM you inserted is not from that carrier.
BBoth the phone and sim are from AT&T which is what my dad has

That means that the phone is locked to a carrier, and the carrier it is locked to is not the same as the carrier the SIM is for.
