How do I get part of an earbud plug out of the jack?
Last night I accidentally fell asleep with my EarPods in my iPad. (These earbuds were on the brink of breaking; one bud was broken and both cable casings were coming out of the splitter.) This morning I woke up to discover that, in rolling over, I had snapped the PLUG of the buds, effectively leaving one part in the tablet and a shortened, useless nub on my earbuds. My question is: has anyone experienced this and if so, what have you done to fix this issue? I read something about using 0.5 mm drill bits to pry the plug out, but being a teenager with a father that does not own said drill bits, I need an easier fix. My friend at school says he fixed an identical issue with his phone and also said he could fix mine. I don't want to risk him breaking the tablet, so I guess another question would be: Can an Apple Store specialist fix this for me, and what would the cost be? The EarPods I was using came with my iPhone 5S which I purchased on 22 August 2014, and the iPad was bought in December 2012 or 2013 (out of warranty either way). I guess this question is directed at Apple Technical Specialists, but any advice whatsoever would be much appreciated. Thanks!
