Voicemail question

I was leaving an important voicemail message on a clients iphone. after 2 minutes I reached my limit and it cut me off. the standard iphone recording came on stating "I'd reached my message limit. without thinking I simply hung up without further prompting what to do with the voicemail. was the message delivered? does simply hanging up send it? this is hardly the circumstances for me to call back and leave a message, that would be unprofessional. can anyone answer this question for me?
