when iphone cellular calls is turned on in FaceTime calls go directly voicemail

Hello:

when "iphone cellular calls" is turned on in FaceTime on my iMac calls go directly to voicemail during the first ring.

iPhone 6 128 GB, iOS 8.2

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), running Mac OS 10.10.2 (14C1514)

Strangely enough this does not happen on my Macbook Air 11" running the same OS.
