How do I tell itunes to share all the changes I make

Hi all

Please tell me how would I tell iTunes to share all the changes I make to my contacts on my Phone with the contacts on my my iPad?
This was happening in the past by default but after several iTunes updates and iOS Updates it has changed now I'm stuck, I suppose I need to make changes in the settings but where?
