vertical bright rectangle

Hi,

On the left side of my MacBook Pro, there is an area shaped like a rectangle that extends from top to bottom and it is brighter than the rest of my screen.

Does anyone here encountered the same problem and how do i fix it?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

That is a hardware problem that will require a visit to an Apple store genius bar. The evaluation will be free, any repairs will result in a quote which you can accept or reject.

The prime candidates are the GPU, the display or the display connection.
