When I am replying to a text message another message will come in and pop up interrupting the message I am typing in. If I click close - I lose what I was typing in the other text message. It is extremely irritating!

This issue was driving me crazy. And I inadvertently found the solution. When the interrupting text comes in ,just swipe across it or swipe it up to remove it from the screen. You can then continue to write your new text and get back to reading the interrupting one later .

Go to Settings>Notifications>Messages and select banners under "alert style when unlocked". This way, a banner will appear at the top of your screen instead of a pop up
