LG Fusic LX550 synchronization

The previous topic on this subject has been tagged as solved. It is not. Once the phone has been paired with my Mac via Bluetooth, it's recognized by iSync, but is shown as not supported. A responder on the previous topic declaimed "No LG mobile handset has ever been—nor likely ever will be—supported by iSync", but gave no reason for this opinion. Why would Apple choose to ignore a very popular line of phones?

Bitpim is a useful app, but it does not yet support the Fusic at all. Putting the phone into USB Flash mode appears unstable, causing the phone to reboot and never providing a link to the computer.

Another respondant on the previous thread stated that they had had success in getting the phone to sync via Bluetooth. Tips on how this was achieved (or how to do it via the USB cable) would be greatly appreciated.

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.8), running just about everything else, too
