pie chart colors change unexpectedly

I've run into an issue with Pie Charts.

Whenever my data includes more than 6 fields, suddenly I lose control of the ability to change colors. Keynote assigns colors to pie pieces, and over 6 slices it assigns the same color to two different slices.

If I change one color, Keynote automatically changes the other. I can't differentiate between data sets. It does this with both 2D and 3D pie charts.

I've not dealt with charts in Keynote a great deal, so if this is just a setting and not a true bug I'd love some assistance on what I might be doing wrong.

I am using a 2012 Mac Mini running 10.10.2 Yosemite with all updates current.

I am using Keynote version 6.5.2 (2119)

click on the chart to select

click on a wedge to select

Inspector > Format > Style > Fill: click on the colour wheels and select a colour

Thanks for your quick reply!

This is what I am doing. When I do this, it not only fills the selected slice, but it always fills a second slice with the same color.

In one example I have 9 slices. If I select just slice 3, it also changes slice 9 to the same color and vice versa.

Try changing the colour in the wedge then changing again.

Here is a pie chart with 12 wedges each one a different colour:

I was able to get 9 different colors after a few attempts. This work-around worked. Thanks Gary!

(I wish Apple would fix this glitch!)
