Installer Package Problem - Cant install iTunes

So I have an older computer that I am trying to get set up in my basement. I want to install iTunes so that I can share libraries from my other computers. I originally uninstalled everything iTunes/Apple related. I then went to download iTunes and no matter what version of iTunes I download I continually get the error message about there being a problem with Windows Installer package. So I kept trying to uninstall everything, clear the registry and re-download & install. Same message every time.

Because of the age of the system, I was not able to download the most recent version of Chrome...I had to download an older version. I hope that isnt the problem with iTunes as well. So I will provide all of the system information below to help.

What can I do to get iTunes installed? Is there a certain version that I will need? Please help!!

Microsoft Windows XP

Professional

Version 2002

Service Pack 3

AMD Athlon XP 2800+

2.08 GHz, 768 MB of RAM

THANK YOU!!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
