I cloud problems after changing Apple ID password.

I share an I cloud with my wife. It's under her Apple id. Yesterday I changed the password for my Apple ID(Not hers) and logged into Game Center. Since then my phone hasn't been sending i messages or getting emails updated. Texts take a long time to send. Also new text threads are starting even though I already had a thread with the same person. What happened here? Any ideas how I can revert back to how it was before? Thanks for the help!
