Q: Windows 7 sp1 with two thunderbolt displays on MacMini (late 2014)

Has anyone gotten Bootcamp Windows 7 sp1 to work with two thunderbolt displays on the new MacMini (Late 2014)

The Thunderbolt display FAQ says that it supports two Thunderbolt displays on this hardware running bootcamp, but when I installed Windows 7 it will only detect one display at a time.

-Tried one thunderbolt display in each thunderbolt port

-Tried daisy chaining one display from the other

-Re-installed the bootcamp 5.1 drivers

-Installed the latest Intel Iris Graphics driver directly from intel (3/3/2015)

Running out of ideas.  Any help would be appreciated

Chris

Are you able to use both displays on the OSX Side?

You may want to go back to Apple TB drivers which should be available via BCA Download Software Option from

Yes they both work perfectly in 10.10.2.

Also, the second thunderbolt connected in windows that won't be detected as a display has full usage of the ports (USB, Thunderbolt, ethernet)

If you have external TB storage, have you tried Mini -> TB Display 1 -> Storage -> TB Display 2 in Windows?

In Control Panel -> Displays, can you detect and identify all displays?

Can you please clarify what you mean go back to Apple Thunderbolt drivers?  I have fully downloaded the BCA drivers on a USB stick, are you saying to run the whole installer once more to repair the drivers?

In control panel I can not detect all displays.

I will try a thunderbolt device daisy chaining between one display to another in a moment.

The Intel drivers may not work properly. The Apple drivers should work much better. There is no specific Mini Model indicated. Which model of the Mini do you have?

    4. How many Apple Thunderbolt Displays can I use with a Mac in Windows 7 or 8 with Boot Camp?

Most Mac computers can support one Thunderbolt display using Windows. The iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) and Mac mini (Late 2014) can support two, and the Mac Pro (Late 2013) can support up to six.

You are using the top Mini model available currently. Do you have the ability to install W8+ as a test?

I do have that ability and that was my next step if no resolutions became apparent for windows 7.

Thanks for your quick responses.  I will install windows 8 and reply back the results

Before you delete W7, was your Windows installation using EFI or the standard default BC Assistant method?

Does Device Manager show both Displays, not Control Panel -> Displays?

Device Manager shows under Monitors one Generic PnP Monitor

The installation was done under the default BC Assistant method

Can you post the output of the following Terminal commands? Do you have a Fusion drive?

    diskutil list

    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

EFI Installation may be able to expose devices better. You can try this as a test.

    1. Remove Windows using BC Assistant.

    2. In Disk Utility create a Free Space partition of the size you want (this behaves differently on a Fusion drive).

    3. Insert your USB Windows Installer.

    4. Power cycle you Mini and hold the Alt/Option key.

    5. Choose EFI Boot and install Windows. Install BC Drivers.

    6. Test with two displays. Check Device Manager for Displays.

This is the traditional BC installation. You have a Hybrid MBR. Try the EFI method on the non-Fusion mini and check if you see any improvements.
