disable hd check in itunes

My computer plays HD videos no problem. But iTunes will some times let me rent movies and other times not. I think it's related to the KVM switch but don't want to go re-wiring my office every time I want to rent a movie. Any way to disable the HD check or at the very least find what it's detecting as false?
