would syncing delete the backup

Hello,

I would like to get information about whether if I sync my iphone if it would delete the backup?

I recently lost my phone and so I want to restore the backup when I get a new phone but I am currently using my old iphone so I wanted to just restore just the music portion from my itunes to the old phone because restoring from backup is too much memory for my old phone.
