Upgradin Early 2008 with SSD
My Mac Pro takes forever to boot up. I'm thinking of installing a 1TB SSD. Has anyone upgraded and how is it performing?
Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Boot up OS X finished in several seconds.
Just note that in the 2008 MP only PCle slots 1 and 2 are version 2. Thus, a PCle SSD in slots 3 and 4 will be a lot slower since it is only version 1
When I had my 2008 Mac Pro I ran six drives inside it plus one optical, three were SSD. Sat II is the highest you'll go because of the hardware limitations at the time. Still much faster than using a mechanical hard drive. Expect write speed to be about 170 megs/sec and read about 225.

An Apple 1TB SSD from ebay and Sintech $9 adapter and use any slot u want. Even $369 Samsung 1TB and $75 SATA III will get you 550MB/sec while the Apple solution PCIe-SSD blade gets 1100-1500MB/sec
