Q: multifunction color laser printer recommendation

I am looking for something that prints wirelessly (AirPrint?)  I need suggestions ASAP if anyone runs a small business and has had success.  We bought a Brother that was too small for our needs - looking at the HP, but the one on Apple’s site is mom

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

    Brother makes a lot of AirPrint printers. If the one you bought was small there are plenty of others. Canon is another good choice. I do not recommend HP.

    It is a frustrating thing.  The HP on Apple’s site looks like it would fit the bill, but it is not color.  I will take your advice and start looking at Brother and Canon.  Are there any model numbers that anyone can recommend using Yosemite?

     

    EDIT:  Every Canon multifunction color laser that I have looked at seem to have problems with OS X

    That model seems to have issues with Macs.  Are you using Yosemite?  Have you been happy with all the functionalities of the printer?

    I've not had any issues to date with Mac or Windows. I'm using Yosemite, the wife is using Mavericks, the son is on Windows 8 and the daughter prints from her iPad and iPhone running iOS8. Apple has the driver for this model so there was no problem with adding the printer. And it supports AirPrint so no issue with printing from iOS. As for the functions of the device, its primary use is for my wife's chiropractic business. Printing is mostly single page invoices/receipts but she also prints multi-page articles and journals from the web so the built-in duplex is ideal to save paper. The kids print their homework and school projects and all sorts of other rubbish so having toner instead of ink is a saving. And it has been far more reliable (faster to print and no jams) than the multifunction inkjet it replaced. On the occasion wifey has to send or receive a fax, that also works fine. You also scan to the Mac and iOS device but that feature doesn't get used that often. So I would say that I've been, and more importantly, the wife has been very happy with the MF8580.

    Are those problems you heard about, or personally experienced? It's not a bad idea to consider user reviews, just filter out those written by people who don't appear knowledgeable. Everyone will find something to complain about. I have yet to find the perfect printer, but Brother and Canon have been the least troublesome, by far. At this point I wouldn't even consider any other manufacturer. Nor would I consider anything other than an AirPrint printer. Those requirements are absolute, and narrow the field considerably.
