Is Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac compatible with Yosemite?

Nial - thanks for advising that I need Yosemite for upgrade of Safari 5.1.10. on my iMac OS X, version 10.6.8. Is there a version number of Yosemite I should seek? What is approx. cost of Yosemite, or is it free? Is my Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac compatible with Yosemite? I installed Office because I need Microsoft Word for report writing.

1. No. Just get Yosemite from the Mac App Store.
