How do I move music from my macbook to my iPhone 6

I have a library of music on my macbook that includes CDs that I've ripped from my personal collection. How do I get this music onto my iPhone 6? I realize I can access it using sharing but that uses a ton of data, and I'm not on an unlimited plan. There are 3rd party apps out there so if anyone has a recommendation, I would appreciate it. I downloaded a couple "free" trials but haven't been able to actually get anything to work.

Thanks.

All this did was erase what was on my iPhone and replace it with the backup that was on my computer. I ripped a good deal of my CD collection into the library on my computer; I would like to get the contents of that library onto my iPhone. Using sync does not access this library. I used to do this on my 4s but it doesn't seem to work on the iPhone 6.
