Home Sharing - iTunes Version

I am working on getting Home Sharing set up so that I can play music from my Mac on different devices throughout my home. I know how to set it up and all of that. However, I am having a problem when I try to get it set up on an older Windows machine. That machine did not meet the requirements for the current version of iTunes. I am pretty sure that it is version 11.something, while on my Mac I have the current version..

Will that pose a problem with Home Sharing? Do the versions of iTunes need to be the same and both be current?
