Time Machine...

I want to use an APM drive to make a bootabkle clone of my old mac but i want to make a partition on it to back up my new mac thrue timemachine.

Considering my new mac is 250G max, a partition for time machine of 250G is okay or not considering all mutilples back up it needs ?
