Check with LG and see if their smart TV is AirPlay compatible.
When i searched youtube, someone suggested TV CAST app on your phone and TV. In app purchase on the phone was 99 cents to use the picture and video feature. It works good. That's what i have as a solution so far.
If the LG TV support Airplay and is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone, an Airplay icon will appear in the Control Center.
Swipe up from the very bottom of the screen on your iPhone and look for the Airplay icon. It's a rectangle with a triangle at the bottom.
I have the same issue here and about to research it for boyh my phone & Windows 10 PC. Your. best bet would be to write down the model number and serial number of your LG TV and ho to the LG website and look through the Support section to see if your question is anawered there; Othrrwise contact their Tech Support department bia the site and I'm sure you'll have an answer within 24-hours! If I find out in the meantime I'll post it here.
I have a new 4k LG smart tv and its been driving me crazy trying to figure this out and the smart share/share content feature of the of lg tv. I haven't been able to find apps or anything other than apps that work with Android. As for iphone, i cant find anything.....which is weird as how many iphones are being sold. You'd think lg would have this thought out.??!? Hope we can find an answer, as LG customer service is about as good as talking to a rock. Dead rock be it.

It's a simple concept...either the TV supports Airplay or it doesn't. If the latter, then it won't work.
I guess, it does not support Airplay....but I had hoped/thought there would be another way. Bummer I guess.
You could buy and use an Apple TV
I just got an OLED LG TV. I was hoping we could connect our Iphone 7 plus to it, but nope. I wanted this for the 4K videos i'm shooting with my phone, but even with Apple TV connected to the LG would it work as 4K quality playing from my phone to the TV since Apple doesn't make an ATV 4K box yet?
I do not understand why apple does not allow its devices to mirror or simply send files to other computers and cell phones over Bluetooth, it's simply a way to force people to buy their equipment, I call it (monopoly).
Why would Apple support Miracast? They have their own technology. Its not like Bluetooth where there is a consortium.
Apple has a standard for wireless streaming... LG TVs do not have that technology built in.
Would you also have said... "My Sony Betamax player should let me play VHS tapes..."
Airplay can be licensed. You can add Airplay via an app to a Windows or macOS computer. Note the TM symbol next to Airplay.

This company licensed the Airplay technology and sell it. LG could do the same. With this app you could Airplay to a Mac or a Windows PC, but not your LG TV.

Have ATV. Just trying to find a way I don't have to use it as this tv's option/smart share is available and does not mention the "need" of an ATV to user it. It's cool.... Thanks for Thoughts.
I just installed the free Video & TV Cast app (Video & TV Cast | Chromecast on the App Store) on my iPhone 6s and an LG Smart TV — it works perfectly! Granted there are in-app purchases which might end up being a hassle, but on first video play, it's working great!
Imediashare App Store works fi
Out of curiosity, has this bug been solved? I'm not sure what an air play is bit o could stream from my windows phone and Android phone to my LG tv. Can't seem to do this on my Iphone?
Don't tell me i need something proprietary like AppleTalk.
