Imessage doesn't work with non iphone users

My imessage used to work with anyone who text me. Then it stopped working after I updated my software on my iphone. I have got imessage working for iphone users but not non-iphone users. If they don't have an iphone, I can no longer send or receive their messages on my imac desktop. Can anyone help me?

Thanks,

Michelle

I also had this problem and found the solution on this link:http://9to5mac.com/2014/10/25/yosemite-ios-8-how-to-set-up-and-use-sms-relay/

It was easy to fix by following her step-by-step process. The latest IOS 8 upgrade disabled the feature. Follow her instructions to enable it again. Mine is up and running again, receiving non-apple messages on my phone, iPad, and Mac.
