Oriental Spam?

What's with all the Oriental spam hitting this community? It's been two days of this nonsense, eh?

The unpleasant people who do this have discovered that if they keep creating new Apple IDs then new forum accounts it makes it a lot more difficult for the Hosts to remove them. (Previously the Hosts could identify one spammer and ban him, though he would be back the next day with a different ID. Now spammers are using each ID for only a few posts then creating a new ID, and there are presumably several of them acting in concert).

The Hosts are dealing with this as best they can but it's an uphill job. There are patches of spam posts ever few seconds for longish periods and each one has to be discovered and removed.

Howdy Roger

What about IP Address blocking? Most SPAMmers are not quite sophisticated enough to spoof IP addys.

From experience... For email SPAMmers, TimeWarnerCable (RoadRunner) will block an entire ISP's range of IP addys if one of their clients is guilty of SPAMming - thus making the ISP deal with their nefarious customers before reinstating the rest of their clients.

This spam is apparently for casinos and they would have access to funds to hire the best. It has been a long time since I've seen spammers that could not spoof IP addresses and as Roger said I'm sure this is the first thing moderators looked at. Added problem: since they operate a Korean, Chinese and Japanese site they risk shutting down one of their sites.
