using itunes to Manage apps apps and file sharing freezes imidiatley itunes

It seems like when you connect your iPhone 6 to your computer, iTunes becomes unresponsive (freezes).

iPad mini plugged into MacBook Pro, iTunes launched, iPad mini selected, Apps, scroll down to File Sharing section... iTunes freezes and is useless, unable to continue scroll feature.. have to disconnect iPad mini.
I am not able to ADD any files... most times the ADD button doesn't even show up...and the scroll feature at this point is frozen.
