screen sharing in yosemite not working

I cannot use screen sharing in messages with Yosemite. The screen sharing icon is light blue.

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Do you get an error?

I've never done it, so be sure to follow the guide below for double-checking nothing was missed in setting up the connection.

If the way in Messages doesn't work, I can recommend Teamviewer as an alternative.

I have been working on this problem for 2 days. I finally found an answer in a Macworld article. The trick is that both computers need to be logged in to iCloud. After doing this I was able to get screen sharing working in iMessage in Yosemite.
