apple tv only displays Apple logo
apple tv status light flashes continually and won't get to menu screen

I tried to restart using remote but it did not help. it came on but only the Apple logo was displayed. status light still flashes slowly
I had to take mine into the apple store. They plugged it into one of their laptops using the usb port on the back of the appleTV, launched iTunes and it automatically launched a reinstall on apple tv. after about 5 minutes it was finished. Had to rein put apple id and password but it worked. I had tried to do that with my iMac but when i plugged it in and launched iTunes it didn't recognize my device. fairly frustrating. so bottom line try to reinstall the software by plugging it into your mac and starting iTunes. if that doesn't work take it to the apple store. think one of their software updates is buggy because it's happened to two of my apple tvs.
