my iPhone won't respond, but it has the iTunes circle in the center with the connection cord showing with an arrow going towards the red circle. how can I get it to respond?

My iPhone will not respond. I plugged it into my computer to download iTunes and now it will only

show the screen with the iTunes circle in the center and a connection cord with an arrow above

pointing to the iTunes circle.

I can turn my phone off, but then it comes up with that same thing when I turn it on. Help!?

iPhone 5, iOS 8.2

Your device is in Recovery mode. You need to restore it by following the instructions in this support article:

IOS RECOVERY MODE RESTORE

restart the device by holding home and power buttons for 10 seconds. it doesnt erase data

That is not going to help someone who's phone is in Recovery Mode which the iTunes and USB plug symbol indicate. The only way to get out of Recovery Mode is by following the steps in the article I linked (BTW - that question and answer were from a year ago....)
